We’re Proud of Young Organizers!
Holding a coat drive is a great activity for preschoolers – college students and everyone in-between! Whether a young person or group of young people are looking for an activity for a club (like Girls Scouts, Daisies, Brownies, Boys Scouts, Cub Scouts, Key Club, Service Clubs, Volunteer Clubs, FBLA, etc) or for in the classroom, a coat drive is a great way to involve one or many young people in making a difference in their community.
The Importance of Giving Back
Nila’s Perfect Coat
Nila’s Perfect Coat is a delightful story about a young girl who finds the most perfect, shiny, puffy coat at the store, but her Mom says no: Nila’s winter coat still fits her just fine. Nila sets out to prove the coat really is perfect–but along the way, learns maybe it’s perfect for someone else. Someone who needs both a coat and a friend.
The OWC loves this story for introducing the importance of coat donations to students young and old!
We are so excited to see a clothing drive episode on Sesame Street! Watching this episode with young Ambassadors is a great way to introduce them to the importance of donating gently worn items instead of throwing them away. The episode shows just how easy it is to make a difference! It’s a great addition to younger student lesson plans.
*Note: One Warm Coat is not affiliated with Sesame Street. We just love the lesson in this episode!

Community Service Logs
Many schools and programs require students to complete volunteer hours in order to graduate or complete their program. If you are required to keep track of the hours that you spend on the project, One Warm Coat provides one.
