Does your Nonprofit Organization need coats?
Our Coat Drive Ambassadors (the volunteers who create a coat drive) use our website as a resource to find a local social service nonprofit agency or school that needs coats. Each Ambassador selects the agency to receive the coats and takes care of the delivery of the coats.
To qualify to receive coats and remain in good standing on our Nonprofit Partner Locator, your organization must:
- Be a registered nonprofit in good standing with the IRS.
- Work directly with individuals in need.
- Give donated coats to individuals in need without any charge, discrimination or obligation.
- Renew/update registration annually and when any changes in address or contacts are needed.

Do you need a coat?
One Warm Coat cares about each person who needs a coat and we are working to raise awareness of the need and to encourage more people to look inside their closet to find a coat they can share. Coats collected during coat drives are given to local agencies that distribute the coats to their clients. One Warm Coat does not maintain an inventory of coats.
If you are in need of a coat for yourself, a friend or family member, please search your zip code on our Agency Locator Map to find one of our nonprofit agency partners in your area, they may have coats available.
In addition, you may also call 211 for Information and Referral Services; they may have a list of agencies that provide services in your local area.

What are the terms and conditions for accepting coats?
We have one rule for accepting coats – coats must be given for FREE to recipients, without discrimination or obligation. Coats cannot be sold in thrift stores.
How does our organization get listed on the web site?
Once you complete the registration process, your agency will be listed on our Nonprofit Locator Map. We will review your application for accuracy and to ensure your organization meets our guidelines. Applications are generally accepted within 3 business days. Once approved, an email will be sent notifying you that your organization is approved.
Is there a cost or fee to be a registered nonprofit partner?
We ask organizations with a budget of over $100K to pay a one-time Lifetime Membership fee of $25. Organizations unable to afford this fee may request to have the fee waived.
Are we guaranteed to receive coats?
Unfortunately we are not able to guarantee you will receive coats each year. Because coats are delivered by our volunteer Coat Drive Ambassadors we cannot know in advance where coat drives will be held. You can increase your chance of receiving coats by holding your own coat drive – as a registered agency you would keep all coats you collect to distribute. We also provide many free tools to help you spread the word about your need for coats in your community.
We need coats immediately, it's an emergency!
If your agency is in a crisis situation and in immediate need of coats, please let us know. Throughout the year we occasionally receive bulk coat donations and may be able to provide assistance.
What do we do if we receive too many coats?
If at some point during the fall and winter collection months your agency can no longer receive coats, please email us and we will “hide” your agency from our map for the remainder of the season. We will NOT delete you from our database. Your information will be retained and we will display your agency again next year.
What if the coats are not usable?
We ask our Ambassadors to only donate clean and wearable coats. We have found that over 95% of the coats meet this standard. If you receive coats that are unusable, we ask that you recycle. If more than 25% of the coats are unacceptable, please contact us and we will be in touch with the Ambassador to determine why this has happened.
Will you use our information in any way?
In addition to your listing on our Nonprofit Locator Map, we will send you emails and newsletters from time to time. We will never sell your information to any third party or sponsor.
Can we cancel our membership?
Yes. If you are longer wanting or able to receive coats please email us and we will remove you from our database.
I need to update my organization's information.
Please email us with any changes to your organization’s profile.
Can we use One Warm Coat's logo?
Yes. Our logo is available for your use in publicizing or promoting the coat collection or distribution process. We always enjoy receiving copies of articles, press releases or photographs from our partners.
