Does your Nonprofit Agency need coats?
Our Coat Drive Ambassadors (the volunteers who create a coat drive) use our website as a resource to find a local social service nonprofit agency that needs coats. Each Ambassador selects the agency to receive the coats and takes care of the delivery of the coats.
To qualify to receive coats and remain in good standing on our Nonprofit Partner Locator, your agency must:
- Be a registered nonprofit in good standing with the IRS.
- Work directly with individuals in need.
- Give donated coats to individuals in need without any charge, discrimination or obligation.
- Renew/update registration annually and when any changes in address or contacts are needed.

Do you need a coat?
One Warm Coat cares about each person who needs a coat and we are working to raise awareness of the need and to encourage more people to look inside their closet to find a coat they can share. Coats collected during coat drives are given to local agencies that distribute the coats to their clients. One Warm Coat does not maintain an inventory of coats.
If you are in need of a coat for yourself, a friend or family member, please call 211 for Information and Referral Services; they may have a list of agencies that provide services in your local area.
In addition, you can search your zip code on our Agency Locator Map to find one of our nonprofit agency partners in your area, they may have coats available.

What are the terms and conditions for accepting coats?
We’re a pretty simple organization with one rule – coats must be given for FREE to recipients, without discrimination.
How does our Agency get listed on the web site?
Completing the Register Your Agency form allows us to list your Agency on our website. When we receive the information, we will review it for accuracy (spelling and typos are our major concern) and to verify that you agree to our terms. Once approved, an email will be sent notifying you that your Agency is now listed.
Is there a cost or fee to be listed on your web site?
Agencies with a budget of over $100K are asked to make a $25 contribution to help One Warm Coat support coat drive organizers across the country. Agencies unable to contribute may request a complimentary listing.
Are we guaranteed to receive coats?
No. Our main activity at One Warm Coat is to support coat drives across the country – each of which is organized by a local individual. We cannot know ahead of time if there will be a coat drive to support your Agency. We are here to let our Coat Drive Ambassadors know about your need.
What do we do if we receive too many coats?
If at some point during the fall and winter collection months your Agency can no longer receive coats, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will “hide” your agency so that it no longer appears on the Agency Locator. We will NOT delete you from our database. Your information will be retained and we will display your Agency again next year.
What if the coats are not usable?
Ambassadors are to collect clean, gently used coats. We have found that over 95% of the coats meet this standard. If you receive coats that are unusable, we ask that you dispose of them. If more than 25% of the coats are unacceptable, please contact us and we will be in touch with the Ambassador to determine WHY this has happened.
Will you use our information in any way?
We will send you email messages and newsletters from time to time. We will NOT forward your information to any third party or sponsor.
How do we get out of the database?
If you no longer wish to receive coats through our project, send an email to email@example.com and we will remove you from our listing.
We need to change/edit/correct information.
If there is a change of address or personnel, just send us an email and we’ll make corrections: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can we ask for additional donations or contributions?
No. We ask that you do NOT make solicitations for cash contributions. Ambassadors may volunteer time and additional items to assist you in your mission, however, as a One Warm Coat Ambassador any funds raised as part of our program are submitted to One Warm Coat to support our mission.
Can we use the One Warm Coat logo?
Yes. Our logo is available on our website for your use in publicizing or promoting the coat collection or distribution process. We always enjoy receiving copies of articles, press releases or photographs.
