- Share the details of your drive (dates, coat drive map, etc.) with employees
- If you are offering an incentive or discount, make sure employees know how to manage the logistics
- If you have more than one location, consider a little friendly competition
What Will You Need to Hold a Drive?
- Decide what you will use as a Collection bin
- Create signage and flyers
- Incorporate this graphic asking people to donate items that are clean and wearable

- Promote the coat drive with in-store posters and flyers
- Use omni-channel marketing including your website, emails, social media, SMS
- Place bag stuffers in shopping bags before and during the drive
- Highlight the local nonprofit receiving the donations and the impact they’ll make in the community
Build Community Excitement
- Offer an incentive to customers who donate a coat (example: $5 off with a coat donation, or free dessert with a coat donation)
- Invite customers to write pocket notes to include with donated coats
- Thank customers publicly through social media, email, and in-store signage
Go Beyond Coat Collection
- Invite customers to add a donation or round up at checkout to support One Warm Coat
Complete your coat drive by delivering donations to your nonprofit partner.
- Record the number of coats you collected by clicking the “Coat Goal” button on your coat drive page
- Find a nonprofit partner where the coats can be delivered at the end of the drive
- Invite customers to write pocket notes to include in the pockets of donated coats.
- Sort, count, and organize the coats you collected, use the Delivery Tags to prepare the coats for delivery
- If you receive any coats that are not wearable, please recycle them
