The Signature Event of the Non-Profit Organization That Provides Warm Coats to Any Person in Need

SAN FRANCISCO (November 15, 2018)  One Warm Coat, the national non-profit committed to providing free warm coats to people in need, is celebrating its second annual One Warm Coat Day on Thursday, November 15th, 2018, and is encouraging others to get involved. One Warm Coat Day is an annual day of awareness and support for the organization’s mission. Drawing public attention to the needs of those who are braving the cold weather without a coat, One Warm Coat will be sharing exciting content from businesses, celebrities, and influencers with the goal of raising awareness for coat drives and raising funds to give warmth to those in need this season.

The need for coat drives is greater than ever according to recent studies. Health experts have expressed the urgency for people to stay warm in colder months, finding that as little as a 2-degree drop in body temperature results in reduced heart rate, loss of coordination, and confusion. Adults cannot work effectively, and children find it difficult to learn*. For most, a warm coat solves the problem. But, for the nearly 15% of Americans living in poverty, a warm winter coat is a budget extra**.

This One Warm Coat Day, the organization is working with people and businesses across the country to spread the word and raise much-needed funds to help the #No1Cold mission this season. The #No1Cold movement encourages people to spread the need for warmth via social media posts. From a restaurant sharing a video of how they will donate a portion of their tips on One Warm Coat Day, to a celebrity post supporting the campaign on Instagram, or a live-streamed coat drive from a dedicated organizer, One Warm Coat Day will highlight both the need for gently worn coats as well as the creativity and passion of so many who support One Warm Coat. With social media presence playing a key role in One Warm Coat Day this year, posts and hashtags will be shared on the One Warm Coat Day microsite, www.OneWarmCoatDay.org.

Coat drives are easy to organize, and One Warm Coat helps to provide the tools and resources necessary to make them successful. In fact, One Warm Coat is partnering with several incredible corporate sponsors who are doing their part this season as well, including J.Crew, Brooks Brothers, Delta Airlines and many more.

One Warm Coat has announced that the first $12,000 of One Warm Coat Day donations made via OneWarmCoat.org will be matched. With an easy text-to-donate call-out, as well as the option to donate funds, coats or even organize a coat drive through the website, helping spread warmth on November 15 couldn’t be easier.
