One Warm Coat Honored as Top Nonprofit for 2013!

One Warm Coat has been honored with a prestigious 2013 Top-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations! Thanks to your enthusiastic posts on the site, more people than ever are now able to see the impact of our work. One person shared that his/her team has collected and given away over 1,500 coats in the past few years – and they’ll “do it again and again, because everyone needs One Warm Coat.” If you wish to share your story, the One Warm Coat page on Great Nonprofits’ site is open and ready.

To say that we appreciate your comments puts it too simply. Our hearts are very full, and we are deeply thankful to be able to share this life-changing work with you all.

San Francisco Pastry Chefs Entice Coat Donors with Something Sweet!

This Fall, Emily Luchetti, the Executive Pastry Chef at San Francisco’s Waterbar (and the Board Chair for the James Beard Foundation), created a sweet masterpiece: a One Warm Coat drive at more than a dozen renowned San Francisco restaurants! Emily and her coat drive team of pastry chefs offer donors a delectable incentive. Donate a coat and receive a little something sweet! Got an extra coat? Check here for your favorite location and then hop a trolley or a cab for your sweet reward now through December 10th.

Creating the Good 5 Years in a Row!

For each of the past 5 years, Vicki and Terry Carstenn of Oconomowoc (WI) have joined with One Warm Coat to organize winter coat drives. This month, their dedication was recognized on a national level! They were invited to share their helpful hints and tips in the AARP member newsletter as part of AARP’s Create the Good campaign! Congratulations, Vicki and Terry, and thank you for using the opportunity to make others aware of the need for warm coats and how easy it is to make a difference. We’re thrilled to be part of the good work that you do!

First Tuesday is KINDING day

I’ll be taking a healthy snack to my favorite Girl Scout Leader tomorrow, May 3rd — we are a big fan of First Book, a non-profit that provides new books for children in need.

One small KIND act from you can make a BIG difference in the lives of those who really need it. Do the KIND Thing and help to make possible the BIG KIND Act of providing new books to children from low income families across the country. Visit to accept the KINDING Mission and get us one step closer to making the BIG KIND Act happen.
